These are some of the policies and ideas I’ve been developing over the years — shaped by experience, conversations, and the needs of our community.
Many are still being written in more detail, but what’s here gives a good sense of where I stand and what I’m working towards.
My office and I are currently undertaking a policy review from August 2025 to July 2026. If you are an elector or resident from Braddon and have any suggestions or feedback for any of my policies or how you can participate further, please email me at craig.garland@parliament.tas.gov.au

Economic Policy
I’m not an economist, but I do know the State Budget is in a disastrous state and needs urgent action. My plan is simple. We need to fix the budget and stop the debt.

Energy Policy
I want to see energy solutions that put the community first, reduce power bills, and grow our economy.

Housing Policy
It’s time to treat housing as a basic human right, not a speculative investment. My housing policy is centred around building more homes, fixing the planning system and standing up for renters.

Health Policy
Tasmania is the sickest state in the nation and we deserve a health system that reflects the scale of the challenge.

Marine Policy
As a fisherman, the ocean is everything to me. Our marine environment must be cared for and protected. Our lives and livelihoods depend on it.

Environmental Policy
I believe we must care for our environment as though our lives depend on it, because they do.

Integrity Policy
Restoring trust in government starts with real accountability, transparency, and independent oversight.

Farming
I support Tasmanian Farmers, and I support more on-island production & processing of our food & fibre.

Stadium Policy
I support a Tasmania Devils AFL & AFLW team. I do not support a new stadium being built at Macquarie Point.
